In the run up to the big day, students often try to find out the GCSE grade boundaries - and whether they are higher or lower than they were expecting. The boundaries show the minimum number of marks you need for each grade, some of which are set after exam papers are marked and often change slightly each year. Exam boards used to release their grade boundaries in advance of A Level and GCSE results day, but some now only release them on the day.
